We've set an ambitious goal for 2020. Find out how our values are helping us achieve it, whilst enabling people to lead the lives they want.

On 18th November we held our second Staff Conference at Sir James Hawkey Hall, Woodford Essex. The conference ‘Living our Values in 2012’ focussed on how the people who use our services want staff to behave while providing their support. We also considered how we can continue to provide innovative, quality services in these financially difficult times.
Following an introductory session from Tom Noon of Cordis Bright about the future of social care, a group of service users presented a thought provoking drama showing good and poor staff behaviours. The poor behaviours included staff using their mobile phones while working and making decisions for them not with them. The good behaviours included listening, being kind and friendly and helping service users to try new things.
There followed five Best Practice Workshops covering:
After lunch, provided by RCHL’s Ray Park Cafe, we worked in small groups translating our 5 Core Values into staff behaviours, then finished the day off with a fun quiz about RCHL.
Feedback from staff about the conference was very positive with the service user drama and the lunch from Ray Park Cafe scoring highest.
We are really excited about using the work from this conference in shaping the future for RCHL!
